portfolio

Neptune and Amymone by Carle Van Loo in Nice, Italy 1757 - Amymone was one of fifty daughters of Danvas. When she and her family arrived in Argos, Neptune caused a drought. Amymone was sent to look for water and after walking for some time she fell asleep only to be awakened by an Satyr with ill intention. Neptune arrived and chased off the Satyr. Amymone then yielded to the God and conceived Nauplius.
